When people hear the word “Nightshade,” they invariably think DEADLY Nightshade! Horrors!
Yet, at this timely part of the year, we’ll explore the many foods, and yes, poisons, in the Nightshade Family.
You’ve probably eaten a nightshade today! It’s a very interesting family, steeped in history and folklore going back thousands of years. You’ll learn that although the Nightshade Family indeed has some poisonous members, it’s also a great source of food. Yes, you will need to learn to recognize some wild plants, but you can enjoy Nightshades even if you stick to your local farmers market or supermarket.
