Description
Join us for a tour of this latest book by Christopher Nyerges, “Foraging Arizona,” which was published in November of 2020. This taped class was the Launch for the book, with an overview of the organization and contents of the book.
The book includes many of the traditional foods used by indigenous people of Arizona, such as palo verde seeds, mesquite seeds, Mormon tea, catclaw acacia, and acorns. Traditional uses of the various cacti is also included, with descriptions of the organ pipe cactus, barrel, prickly pear, and saguaro, and traditional recipes.
And because so many edible but non-native plants are found everywhere today, the book also includes the many edible and nutritious “weeds” that are found in Arizona, such as the purslane, lamb’s quarter, mallow, chickweed, and more.
Uses of the willow, mesquite, cattails, watercress, and many more are included.
The book includes a map of Arizona, and a description of where the plants will be found.
Following your purchase, you will be emailed a link to the class, which was recorded live. This Home Study program is about two hours long.
