Description
NATURAL NAVIGATION
In this program, we will begin with a discussion of how we take general navigation for granted in our society with all our smart phones and GPS devices. We’ll share ways to observe the world for clues to directions. We begin with basic observation of our environment to gain clues to direction, things like the way snow melts, how trees grow thicker on one side, shadows, etc. We’ll look at ways to observe the sun, stars, and moon for navigation, and then some fundamentals about using a compass. This will be loosely based upon Nyerges’ latest book, “Guide to Getting Around with or without a Compass.”
This class is about two hours, and includes some of the discussion from students.$25
