Description
This is a step by step approach to writing for publication and marketing your work, without becoming desperately broke. Based on the classes taught by Christopher Nyerges at Pasadena City College, L.A. City College, etc.
Sections include what to write about, writing press releases, keeping records, writing for newspapers, writing for magazines, working with an agent.
When you’re ready to write a book, we discuss fiction vs. non-fiction writing, how to organize your book, how to authenticate facts, and how to present your book (the “proposal”) to publishers.
Self-publishing is included too.
Here is a great summary of what you should know: 1. You need to be a good writer in the first place (this is not a “how to write” book); 2. Know your markets; 3. Don’t put all your eggs into one basket; 4. Have a Plan; 5. Persist; 6. You must have a purpose in what you do; 7. There is no “magic”; 8. “Don’t quit your day job” (Alan Page); 9. If you know Oprah, CALL HER!
We send you the book electronically and you can print it out if you wish.
